When my ex-wife left in January 2010, my friend Geoff Smith said come to Nashville and hang out. I did. He was working on a new album. I was a lost zombi. I had my camera with me, and I asked if I could shoot some stuff about the production of the album.

I’ve always wanted to produce documentaries. Making Gravity is the first. I did most of the work during the denial phase of the end of my marriage. Then during the turmoil of the divorce process, I misplaced the footage. A few days ago, I found it backed up with Time Machine on a Drobo. I made some adjustments and here it is. I’ve learned a lot since I shot and edited this a year and a half ago, but mostly I’m happy with Making Gravity.

You can find out more about Geoff and buy his album at http://www.thegeoffsmith.com.

The Bloodstone Diaries: Thief of All Things was originally imagined as a Web series, but as they story developed, the producers wanted to do more with it. They invited me to shoot the “making of” footage. I ended up with about 15 hours of footage. This is a short documentary showing the cast and crew at work making their short film.

A friend asked me to capture her daughter’s dance recital. I didn’t want to just make a cheesy video so as we got closer and closer to the actual event, it grew into a project. We wanted to make something more like a film and we worked with the studio to capture something truely unique. This video is footage from rehearsals that took place in the week leading up to the actual performance. The song I used is Cher’s Last of of Me, from the movie Burlesque, which has been so encouraging to me in the last year.

DVDs can be ordered from The Bacon Store.

I make food that tastes really good. It isn’t health food. I’m inspired by Julia Child and Paula Deen so there’s plenty of butter and buckets of cream. I go to Jamie Oliver when I want to cook healthy. I go to friends, family and my crazy imagination when I want to cook a dish so good it’ll make a girl shake.

I wanted to create a way to share these recipes in a new way. The result is OMG Yum! It’s a website and a Internet TV show (podcast). The recipes on the website are pretty standard, although I write them more like people used to write recipes before folks got so persnickety about measurements. The show is something different. Since a Web show doesn’t have to be a certain length, I’m able to cut out anything that isn’t essential to give you simple, step-by-step instructions for making food I hope will cause the people you love to cook for say, “Oh my God, YUM!”

One of the things in my life I’m most proud of is creating something that became a question (or is it answer?) on Jeopardy. We learned that lots of folks in traditional media paid attention to GeekBrief.TV for gadget news and out of interest in what we were accomplishing with the show. That writers at Jeopardy were watching and thought enough of the show to make it a question/answer is one of the coolest bits of my life.

This is a travel video we shot at the Fish Wharf in Washington, D.C. It’s one of my favorite things we ever produced. As a foodie, one of my favorite things is to discover unique places to eat amazing food and share the experience with whoever is hungry!

And here’s one about BBQ Theory!

UPDATE: Sadly, Chef Dave Teichman featured in the second video died February 16, 2009. He taught Luria and me the difference between good food and crap. Miss him HUGE!
